Well beyond 14 days subsequent to the heartbreaking passing of esteemed film director Rob Reiner and his wife, photographer Michele Reiner, peers and loved ones continue to honor the pair.
Sharing on social media, actor Cary Elwes, who was featured in Reiner's iconic movie *The Princess Bride*, explained he just recently felt able to share openly about his deep grief.
"Adequate time has elapsed that I can now articulate my loss into words," wrote Elwes, noting that his introductory moment with Reiner left him smitten. "Once we started passing more hours together I knew this was someone I longed to have in my life."
The actor uploaded behind-the-scenes footage from the film, remarking that he could not remember "any day without joy".
"This story is about love, loyalty and sacrifice. Principles that Rob held dear. Which is among the many reasons he was the ideal person to guide it," Elwes expressed.
He went on to praise Michele Reiner, noting: "To say that they were a formidable pair would be an understatement. My heart still aches every time I recall you." He concluded with a phrase from *The Princess Bride*: "Indeed, death cannot stop true love but life is pain without you."
In a distinct piece, legendary director Martin Scorsese paid homage to Reiner, whom he initially encountered in the 1970s.
"Right away, I loved hanging out with Rob. We had a innate rapport for each other. He was very funny and sometimes bitingly funny, but he was never the kind of guy who would dominate the room," Scorsese wrote.
Scorsese highlighted Reiner's supporting role in his 2013 film *The Wolf of Wall Street*, portraying the father of the lead role.
"He was skilled at improv with the best. He was a expert at comedy, he worked seamlessly with everyone, and he comprehended the emotional dilemma of his character," Scorsese wrote.
Recently, a Los Angeles judge agreed to bar the disclosure of the Reiners' medical examiner's reports, at the request from the local authorities.
A court order issued a embargo on the cases to limit the public release of "all case details, documents, files or images" pertaining to the ongoing investigation.
The coroner's office had earlier stated their deaths were the outcome of murder, with a official listing noting the cause as "injuries from a sharp object".
In the wake of the tragedy, public personalities expressed varying comments.
Former President Donald Trump wrote on the matter, providing controversial claims that were broadly criticized by numerous public figures.
Podcaster Joe Rogan added his criticism to the detractors last week. Conversing on his program, Rogan labeled the statements as "disturbing" and implied they showed a troubling absence of compassion.
Rogan concluded by proposing that an associate could have stepped in when the decision to speak on the tragedy was made.
