The top-ranked player Aryna Sabalenka has been selected the Women's Tennis Association player of the year for a second consecutive season.
The 27-year-old won four titles – the most on tour – which included successfully defending the US Open in September versus Amanda Anisimova to claim her fourth career Grand Slam singles championship.
Across the season, Sabalenka competed in a circuit-leading nine finals, with defeats coming to Madison Keys in the Australian Open final at the start of the year and Coco Gauff in June's French Open final.
The star player also won the Brisbane International early in the season, the Miami Open in March, and the Madrid Open as the clay season progressed. She spent the entire year as the world number one, finishing 2025 on top of the rankings for a second straight year.
In July, she became the first player to top 12,000 WTA ranking points since Serena Williams did so nearly a decade ago.
Sabalenka ended the season with a 63-12 win-loss record, and earned a record £11m in earnings.
She garnered nearly eighty percent of the votes submitted by global tennis journalists.
Later this month, she is poised to compete against 2022 Wimbledon runner-up Nick Kyrgios in a Battle of the Sexes-style exhibition match in a bid to "help bring women's tennis to a new level".
Recently, Carlos Alcaraz secured three awards in the Association of Tennis Professionals (ATP) Awards, including the year-end number one award, while Jannik Sinner was chosen as the fan favorite for a third consecutive time.
