Christantus Uche Fuels Comfortable Palace Victory at Shelbourne.

Despite embarking on their first-ever continental campaign, Oliver Glasner's side are learning at a rapid pace. Without star figures like forward Jean-Philippe Mateta and wing-back Daniel Muñoz, the London club left Dublin with a comfortable win that virtually guarantees them a spot in the Europa Conference League playoffs.

A further victory in their upcoming match against Finland's KuPS should be sufficient to seal straight passage to the knockout stages, particularly following a previous setback against Strasbourg.

Squad Members Grasp the Opportunity

This match offered a chance for some of Palace's fringe players to shine. Christantus Uche, making only his second start since joining on loan from Getafe, notched the scoring with a clinical goal. Forward Eddie Nketiah added a second, scoring for the second game in succession.

A Shelbourne side that had concluded their league season proved no match against a mostly rotated Palace lineup. The visitors were further depleted by the reports that Mateta and Muñoz are sidelined with leg problems.

In spite of heavy rain in Dublin, Palace rapidly took control. A flowing passing sequence in the 11th minute, initiated by Daichi Kamada's clever pass, let Nketiah to lay on Uche for a straightforward tap-in.

Youngster Adam Wharton came close minutes later, driving a long-range shot over the bar. Nketiah then claimed for a penalty after racing into the area, but the official dismissed the protests.

The formerArsenal striker didn't need to wait long to get his goal, prodding home from a yard out after Uche's shot had hit the post.

Shelbourne were hanging on desperately. Defender Kameron Ledwidge was lucky to escape a booking for a couple of agricultural tackles on Yeremy Pino, before Chris Richards struck the woodwork with a powerful header from a corner.

The match was effectively over eight minutes from half-time. Yeremy Pino meandered past some weak challenges before calmly slotting a shot past goalkeeper Wessel Speel to extend the lead to 3-0.

Following the break, coach Oliver Glasner took the chance to withdraw key individuals like Kamada and Wharton. Replacement Romain Esse came close to scoring his first touch, only to see his shot blocked.

Esse was desperately unlucky later on, seeing one shot crash off each posts before being gathered on the line. Uche also missed a glaring chance, showing there is still scope for improvement in his game.

A solitary concern for Palace was a late knock to Justin Devenny, who was forced off. This allowed 17-year-old striker Benji Casey to earn his first-team debut, rounding off an otherwise perfect evening for the visiting side.
